This song was written about the Little Bear Wildfire that happened in my hometown of Ruidoso, NM during the summer of 2012. I was a new volunteer firefighter working on this wildfire and it was a very scary and unforgettable experience. It was one of the worst natural disasters to ever happen to our area.
lyrics
Mountain reaching for a stormy sky,
Standing proud with no reasons to lie,
The heavens reach down with a mean ‘ole cry,
Ooh, ooh,
And then the lightning strikes,
‘Let it burn’ that’s what they said,
But what about the beauty of all this land,
Did we learn nothing at all from our past,
Ooh, ooh,
And then the flames rise,
Smoke and ashes,
Where the trees will once again stand,
Where we will once again stand,
Where life will once again live,
Evacuations that are breaking our foundation,
Will we find hope or be buried in frustration,
I’m starting to think that we’ve finally met our match,
Ooh, ooh,
And then the rains pour down,
Black water,
Flood the town now,
We found out that the colors will all come out,
Ooh, ooh,
Ooh, ooh,
